Kelly Cartwright started working for Jark, as a receptionist/trainee consultant in 2011. By her early 20’s she was already making a significant contribution to the business.
In 2016, when the restructuring of Jark meant there was an opportunity to relaunch Jark Norfolk as an independent company, Kelly leapt at the chance.
“I saw an opportunity to be in control of my business and push it in the direction I wanted it to grow,” she says.
Being a startup is a big leap for any recruitment professional with an eye to entrepreneurship, but the shift from trainee consultant/ receptionist to business owner in five years is seismic.
Kelly is the first to admit that The Recruit Venture Group’s support was the start point. “The Recruit Venture Group provides my business with experts who deliver the back office function to help us grow and their support is faultless. I am able to continue growing my reputation within the industry as” Kelly at Jark” and run my own business without it costing me a penny” is her verdict.
The business now provides a superb service to the construction sector in Norfolk, and Kelly is very much at the heart of it. “As the owner of Jark Norfolk, I am now at the helm of the business, fully involved in the day to day operations and able to offer a hands-on service to all our clients,” she says, adding,
“When you’re a 24 year old woman in the male-dominated world of building construction recruitment it can be tough”.
But, she’s built a business, servicing building and construction businesses and most importantly of all – she’s built her dream. And is still building it.
What’s more, Kelly and her team were recently awarded Recruitment Agency of the Year (£3 to £6m) at The Recruit Venture Group Recruitment Awards and shortlisted for Recruitment Innovation, Best Client Service, and Best Candidate Care.

When Kelly Cartwright saw the opportunity to run Jark Norfolk her way, as an independent business, she didn’t hesitate.
