The Recruit Venture Group raise £7,500 for the Big C Cancer Charity at Royal Norfolk Show Ball

The Royal Norfolk Ball is an important event in the county’s calendar. A fantastic opportunity for individuals and businesses to get together, have a wonderful evening and raise money for a good cause, the ball has been a fixture of the Norfolk social scene for years.

This year, The Recruit Venture Group donated two prizes to the event’s auction pot. Raising a combined total of £7,500, our contribution helped the Royal Norfolk Show Ball give even more money to worthy local causes.

The Royal Norfolk Show

This year, The Royal Norfolk Show was attended by around 750 guests. The event had a 1920s theme and featured pre-dinner drinks on the lawn, a four-course meal and an evening of live entertainment. Held at the Norfolk Showground in Norwich, it was a great opportunity to have fun and raise money for important local charities.

The Big C

This year, all the money raised at The Royal Norfolk Show Ball went to Norfolk cancer charity The Big C. Founded in 1980, this incredibly important organisation helps to provide the people of the county with high-quality cancer care just when they need it most. As well as funding vital research, The Big C provides invaluable help and support to thousands of people dealing with cancer in Norfolk.

A central part of our company culture, giving to local causes has always been important to everyone at The Recruit Venture Group. To find out more about what we do, or about the organisations we work with, take a look around our site or get in touch with a member of our team.

The Recruit Venture Group has always been committed to Norfolk and to the local community, so when we were asked to provide a prize for the charity auction at The Royal Norfolk Show Ball, we jumped at the opportunity.

Paul Mizen, our managing director, opted to donate two prizes to the event, one to be auctioned off in the silent auction and one at the live auction. In the silent auction, we sold a week at our company-owned villa, with flights, for an impressive £2,500. The live auction saw our week in the villa raise even more cash, going under the hammer for a whopping £5,000. By donating these prizes to the ball, we were able to help contribute all-important funds to The Big C and give something back to our local community in the process.

The Recruit Venture Group’s Managing Director, Paul Mizen, said:

“The evidence suggests that scale up businesses are more innovative and productive. So much so that they are a real focus of the Government because of the transformative effects they have on the UK economy. On average, employees of a scale up business generate an amazing £235,000 turnover each.

“When we partner with a talented recruiter with industry experience under their belt, we do so not just to launch the business, but also to nurture its growth. When it comes to scaling up that business, you can be the best recruiter in the world, but if you haven’t got the finance and support for growth, it will never happen. We understand this, and that is why our model is set up to break down barriers to business expansion.

“We have businesses which are always planning for that next step, from taking on more staff, to opening new offices, and expanding into new markets in new areas. Our funding and back office support means that as long as the figures stack up, we’ll be there to back it every step of the way.”

But the reality for most is that, according to the Scale Up annual report from 2017, half of businesses fear they do not have the right business support for their growth plans. But the Recruit Venture Group meets that very challenge as a central part of its model. The financial, back office and advisory support is always at hand.
